Our Goal

To offer the best customer service and sales support to our valued channels of distribution while producing superior lines of products in our chosen industries and creating a corporate culture of innovation, pride, and prosperity.

Our History

While operating a machinery repair shop and farming operation in 1974, Dean Somerville saw the need for a self-aligning, universal puller that would safely and quickly remove gears and bearings. With his inventive spirit and mechanical background, he developed the unique Posi Lock Safety Cage® design.
1978

The Posi Lock puller was immediately recognized as a significant advance in the gear and bearing puller industry, paving the way for future success. Dean established Posi Lock Puller, Inc. and began production.

1982

Posi Lock makes its first international sale in Canada.

During an exciting period of growth for Posi Lock in 1984, a fire broke out in our facility in McHenry, North Dakota. The building was completely destroyed, and all of its contents was lost. Not to be deterred from the devastation of the fire, Dean purchased office space and a warehouse in Cooperstown, North Dakota the next year. This is where the company was rebuilt and where it continues to thrive.

1987

Posi Lock created its hydraulic division. Two years later, we produced our 100-ton puller.

Dean kept the business in the family. Today, Posi Lock’s Vice President Tamara Somerville, Dean’s daughter, continues to develop strong international alliances around the globe with Posi Lock; however, this success has not come easily. We’ve practiced passion, patience, and persistence to transform our company into the quality-focused manufacturer it is today.
